Vinodol is a green valley of peace and relaxation between the sea and woody mountains.
The entire Vinodol is a beautiful story, composed of rich history, numerous cultural and historical monuments, natural resources and tradition.On this trip we will get to know the diversity of cultural-historical sights of Vinodol where the princes Frankopan had built nine castles, and whose rule of four centuries left deep spiritual and material imprints in historic towns of Bribir and Drivenik.
After that we will experience Vinodol by seeing it from the "bird’s-eye view”-a new, distinctive tourist product was created by building six (6) belvederes in the District of Vinodol and the Town of Novi Vinodolski.
Slipica belvedere is located at 446 meters above sea level,at the meeting point of the Mediterranean and continental climate on a steep stony cliff. The belvedere offers magnificent view of Velebit, the Velebit Strait, Kvarner islands, Učka, Novi Vinodolski and the Valley of Vinodol, all the way to Grižane.
We continue our trip by a visiting to the House Klović in Grižane.It is a museum and the collection is dedicated to the miniaturist George Julia Klović, consists of several thematically different rooms that represent not only the work and life of the Croatian Renaissance painter and miniaturist, but other cultural treasures Vinodol community.
Grape-wine has been grown in Vinodol ever since the ancient times, when it was brought here by the Romans and the valley is also known as Vallis vinearia.The plantations of grape-wine, especially of the autochthonous sort called Žlahtina have been revived only recently by the refugees from Vukovar and the production of wine is growing again. We visit the Vineyards of Pavlomir where we will taste the typical wines of the valley.
At the end of our trip we will visit Novi Vinodolski-the town on Croatia's Kvarner coast that has wrote history a couple of times. This is the town where the important Croatian and European legal document, known as the Vinodol Codex, was compiled in 1288.Dinner in local taverne.
