PROGRAM SUGGESTION:
DAY 1: Arrival in Dalmatia for an overnight stay
DAY 2: Metropolis of Dalmatia Split - island Hvar
Our journey south starts after breakfast. The name Split is often associated with a small Greek colony called Aspalathos, named after a plant, the Spanish gorse, that grows in the area. For a long time, however, this settlement was overshadowed by the nearby Salona, a much larger city that later became the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia. You will learn this and much more on a city tour. Then we take the ferry that takes you to the island of Hvar. Dinner and overnight on the island of Hvar.
DAY 3: The town of Hvar
Today's program includes the sights of the city of Hvar itself: the fortress (Španjola) was built in the middle of the 16th century on the ridge above the old town, the Hvar cathedral, the Hvar theater (and arsenal), one of the first civil theaters in Europe, Founded in 1612. You will get a lot of tips from your tour guide.
In the afternoon you have free time.
DAY 4: Island of Hvar tour
The interior of the island is green and fertile. Here the visitor will find the vineyards and olive groves that are very typical of the island. The countless lavender and rosemary bushes give the island a Mediterranean scent.
Hvar is also very famous for its good honey and the best sardines. Vrboska and Stari Grad are on the program. Vrboska has a beautiful little island in the middle of the bay, which is connected by bridges and is therefore called the 'Little Venice'. Stari Grad is the oldest city in Croatia. Here we take a walk through the beautiful old town with our tour guide.
A cheese and wine tasting on the island of Hvar is a must.
DAY 5: Farewell to the island of Hvar
We leave the island of Hvar and drive north where a city tour in Trogir awaits us.
Trogir, one of the most beautiful places in Croatia, is only about 20 kilometers away from Split. The city has preserved its medieval character in such a way that one can speak of a museum city.
After the tour, the journey to the desired overnight stay starts.
