DAY 1: Arrival
Welcome drink with our hiking tour guide.
DAY 2: Hike program depending on where you are staying
If you book an overnight stay, you will continue on to Dalmatia on the 2nd day, as well as the hike. On this day we recommend the hiking program depending on the overnight stopover:
If you choose to stay overnight in the Plitvice Lakes area:
Plitvice Lakes National Park
We hike on soft leafy paths and stick dams through the forests of the Plitvice Lakes, which are connected with rushing waterfalls, and enjoy a boat trip in silent motorboats across the crystal clear Kozjak Lake.
Walking time: approx. 4-5 hours, difficulty level = medium, height difference = 300 m
If you choose to stay overnight in the area of Crikvenica - Kvarner Bay:
Zavratnica Bay (Velebit National Park)
A true jewel of the Adriatic is hidden near Jablanac, the ferry port to the island of Rab: without a doubt, Zavratnica is definitely one of the most beautiful bays on the Croatian coast. Thanks to its natural beauty, it was declared a protected landscape in 1964 and has been part of the Velebit Nature Park since 1981. In the dreamy bay, the blue tones of the sea, the gray tones of the Velebit stone, the green of the thin vegetation and the dark shadow clouds of the trees, which only cover parts of the way on warm summer days, mix.
Walking time: approx. 3 hours, difficulty level = medium, height difference = 150 m
DAY 3: Hike to the Zrmanja River Nature Park
Approx. 40 minutes drive from the hotel to the area around the Maslenica Bridge. We start our hike to the fantastic viewpoint of the canyon of the Zrmanja River. Shortly before it flows into Maslenica Bay, the Zrmanja has cut an impressive canyon into the karst mountains. This is where a pueblo was found in the Karl May film Winnetou II. Further scenes were filmed at this point in the canyon. That is why the Canyon has been an insider tip among Karl May fans for years. Duration of the hike approx. 1.5 - 2 hours. Then bus ride to the village of Ervenik, where we can do another easy hike of about 1 hour along the upper part of the Zrmanja river to the village and an old mill ... and this is where our journey through time can begin:
You will be welcomed with a home-made welcome schnapps and strengthened with a picnic: home-made bread, olives, olive oil, almonds, basa (a quark specialty of the region), almonds and figs. You will learn more about the country, people, costumes, tradition and folklore in the village where your current hosts live, around 20 people. Experience unique folklore , Men's group “Žegar živi”, whose song is on the UNESCO list of the intangible cultural heritage of mankind. This is followed by a traditional “Čobanski kazan” lunch, plus music, dance and animation, all right on the Zrmanja river and by an old mill. To say goodbye, you will receive a bag with fine almonds to take home the taste of today.
Walking time: approx. 2-3 hours, difficulty level = easy, height difference = 100 m
DAY 4: Free time or optional excursion
Excursion by boat and hike to Kornati Islands National Park
The Kornati National Park archipelago includes a total of 89 islands and reefs. Nature lovers and active tourists get their money's worth here. In the summer there are numerous sailing boats and yachts between the respective islands to explore the wonderful Kornati region. The creatively formed islands and reefs are called "crowns" and make a great picture. One of the most impressive natural phenomena on the Kornati islands are the cliffs on the islands of the Donji Kornati group. Today we spend our day on a ship including a boat trip, lunch with drinks on one of the Kornati islands, do an easy hike on the Kornati islands and recover from a beautiful week of hiking that we had.
Relaxed day in the metropolis of Northern Dalmatia - Zadar
For centuries the capital of Dalmatia, the center of the region with its rich cultural heritage which is still visible today: Roman forum from the 1st century, the famous church of St. Donatus, at the same time the city's trademark, and much more. At the extreme tip of the Zadar peninsula is the work "Greeting to the Sun". As master director Alfred Hitchcock once said: "Zadar has the most beautiful sunset in the world, even more beautiful than in Key West, Florida, where it is applauded every evening."
Not to be missed is the famous sea organ which attracts numerous guests every year. It looks like a special coastal formation with a few rows of stairs that lead down into the sea. This is a place of connection of human ideas and techniques with the energy of the sea and the waves, with the water level and the tide, a place to relax, to contemplate and to talk with the uninterrupted concert of the mystical tones of this "nature orchestra".
DAY 5: Journey home
All hiking and biking routes, personally researched and described by our hiking and biking guides, including descriptions of difficulty, route length, travel time and altitude difference, are available to you after a specific appointment request for the planned trip.
